Debbie Blount B.A. Hons.

My art is a direct response to the outstanding natural beauty with which I am surrounded and is a reflection of my intense interest in the natural world.

I studied in Yorkshire before moving with my husband and five children to a small village beside the Savernake Forest in Wiltshire. The abundant wildlife that the forest supports provides me with constant inspiration.  Much of the bird life can be encouraged into our garden where we have created a large naturalised pond and multiple feeding stations.  As a consequence my art reflects this year round interaction with our native species. I have worked fulltime as a professional wildlife artist for the last three years.

The paintings I create are highly detailed in oil on canvas or occasionally wooden panels. I also work in many other media including acrylic, watercolour, pastel and sometimes mixed media. A particular favourite is to produce intricate, textural pencil drawings.

I have exhibited widely, 2005 was a particularly busy year professionally. I was successfully involved with many shows both as an individual and with other professional artists.

The highlight of the year was being selected to exhibit with The Society of Women Artist, and The Royal Society of Miniature Painters Sculptors and Gravers at the Mall Galleries London. These were highly successful and resulted in more that half my paintings being sold.

2006 begins with a month long wildlife show at the Salisbury Playhouse, this is followed by many exhibitions and Open Studios throughout the year. Visit the events page for an up to date list of events,  you may also purchase limited edition prints and cards. I am also very happy to undertake commissions, please do not hesitate to contact me for details.
